Meet Miss Alycia

Dance/Tumble Instructor
Alycia Whaley
Alycia Toker/Whaley began dancing at age 4, at Daria Bearden’s School of Dance in Orange County, California. From age 5 to 18, she studied at Darla’s school of Dance, her mother's school, studying ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical jazz, musical theatre, and hip hop. During these years, she participated in competitions and conventions preforming in both Orange County, Los Angeles and attending numerous workshops. From age 7 to 15, she ice skated in Anaheim, California, competing and performing throughout California, including The World Championships in San Francisco.
During high school, she diversified by joining her cheer squad, and taking tumbling classes.
Between 2003 and 2006, she taught both dance and tumbling at Trinity School of Dance in Durant, Oklahoma and performed (while 8 months pregnant) on the clogging competition team.
In 2007, Alycia and her husband relocated to Chattanooga, TN where after a few years, she and her mom decided to open Tempo, teaching dance and tumble.
She also had the opportunity of working closely with the local theatre and schools on technique and choreography.
Due to her husbands job, they moved back to Texas in 2014. While living in Forney, Texas, she had a wonderful experience teaching at Rhythm House Dance. So much, that the owner Camie was plotting on kidnapping (not really (that's illegal)) her to prevent the families move to Minnesota.
After moving to Minnesota and welcoming their long-awaited daughter Ella, the family moved back to Georgia, where they
ARE STAYING.
Alycia has had the opportunity to take classes across the country, from California to New York, learning from both master artists of the classics, to a self-taught break dancer from Canada.
She is excited to come back to this beautiful area, with her cherished family and friends, at this loved dance studio, so she can fulfill her personal mission to foster in others an appreciation for good technique and a deep love and passion for dance.
